Desiring a quiet community to raise their family, Waters Edge resident Ryan and his wife Christine moved to Waters Edge with their 2 young daughters and haven’t looked back since! From the personal connections they have made with neighbours to the unbeatable amenities right in their backyard, we chatted with the Elliotts to hear more about how their life has grown here!
How long have you and your family lived out at Waters Edge? What made you decide to make the lifestyle change?
This August will be four years for us out at the lake. We initially were looking to move to a nicer quieter community and explored Vancouver Island initially. But with the way my company was going we decided to have a look at Waters Edge. Once we took a drive out here and met with Mike and Cam we made the decision to look at lots and house plans. Cam actually took us for a ride in the box of his truck so we could have a good idea what the different views available would be for us and chose our lot based on the lake view.
Tell us about your experience raising a family out at the lake!
I grew up out in the country and wanted that sort of life for our kids. One of the things our family used to love was going out to the Arndt’s property at Castle Island and just enjoying the water sports and fishing that Lac Ste. Anne offers. One of the first things we purchased when we were able was a boat and lift. The kids have had a blast playing in the pool, going to the park and living life on the tube behind the boat.
What do you enjoy about the community at Waters Edge?
One thing that has impressed me living at Waters Edge is the sense of community we have. There seems to be lots of young families similar to ours and there are more moving in all the time. We know our neighbours here, which is something that we found lacking in the city. On weekends when we light a fire in our fire pit we have neighbours wander over and join us, which has made for some great nights socializing around a campfire and getting to know everyone. We also love the feel of security that we have at Waters Edge- with a work schedule like mine we rely on the sense of security of the gate. My wife loves the fact that there are so many wonderful neighbours we can rely on for help if she needs it.
What are your family’s favourite/most frequented amenities?
In the summer, especially during the week when the pool is quieter, we love taking the kids down and letting them swim. The kids love going to the park and playing with other children from the community.
What is one of your favourite experiences you can recall being a part of in this community?
One of our wonderful neighbours Trish and Richard put on a new years party with a roaring 20’s theme which was a massive success. They rented out the clubhouse and we had a blast socializing. One of the best experiences we have had is our community coming out to support our little girls’ lemonade stand and they had a blast meeting new people.
What has been the best part of living at the lake over the years?
The best part has been living somewhere that the kids are able to experience tubing on the lake. Watching the kids have such a blast in the water, both on the lake and in the pool, and seeing how they will grow up out here with their other friends is the best part of lake living.
What advice would you pass on to other people interested in moving out to Waters Edge?
Come out and be social with everyone in the community. Enjoy the amenities and make some great friends. I know it has made our experience living there great.
A huge thanks to the Elliott family for sharing their perspective on what raising a family at Waters Edge is like! Living at the lake is not only an amazing vacation lifestyle, but also a great community. And the best part is that, no matter what lifestyle you’re looking for, there’s a waterfront property that’s perfect for you. When you live in a lake community, there’s tons of opportunity for family fun, community and connection to the great outdoors.
